About Me

Who am I?

a Christian,
a husband,
a writer,
an editor,
a teacher,
a cat owner,
a Master’s in English recipient,
and a baseball fan.

Why do I write fiction?

I write because I must. I care deeply about how art, figurative thinking, and a literary sensibility can be cultivated to see reality with new eyes. Pay close attention to the books around you; they may just save your life, or ruin it.

Thanks for visiting! Here are two quotes:

“‘Who are you waiting for’ ‘For the sleigh to take me,’ said K. ‘No sleighs come along here,’ said the man, ‘no traffic comes through here.’ ‘But this is the road that leads to the Castle,’ objected K. ‘Even so, even so,’ the man said rather implacably, ‘no traffic comes through here.’ Then the two of them fell silent.” Franz Kafka, The Castle

“My own feeling is that writers who see by the light of their Christian faith will have, in these times, the sharpest eyes for the grotesque, for the perverse, for the unacceptable… Redemption is meaningless unless there is cause for it in the actual life we live, and for the last few centuries there has been operating in our culture the secular belief that there is no such cause.” Flannery O’Connor
